Can you ship to countries outside Canada and the US?
Due to diverse shipping rates we are unable to provide automatic payment for countries outside Canada and the US. International buyers should contact us for shipping rates and payment options by e-mailing
sales@aristocratsbabyproducts.com. You should keep in mind, however, that customs duties may be applied to your shipment when it arrives in your country; we have no control over these.

What shipping method do you use?
Shipping is by Canada Post for all North American orders.

How long before I receive my shipment?
We make every effort to ship the day after orders are received. Orders received on Fridays and Saturdays are shipped on Monday (unless it's a public holiday). Within Canada, allow an additional 5 to 12 days for delivery. In the U.S., allow an additional 1 to 2 weeks.

Can I machine wash my Aristocrats Diaper Covers?
NO! Gentle handwashing only is recommended for all our wool products. Felting and shrinkage of wool fibres will result from excess friction, especially when the fabric is wet. However, unless soiled, your Aristocrats Diaper Covers will usually only require laundering about every 1-2 weeks.

NEVER PUT WOOL ITEMS IN THE DRIER!

How should I wash my Aristocrats Diaper Covers?

  • Hand wash in lukewarm water, 37°C (98°F)
  • Use soap powder, mild soap, baby shampoo or wool wash
  • Gently squeeze garment, do not rub or wring. Add 1 Tbsp. vinegar to last rinse.
  • Roll in towel and squeeze out excess moisture.
  • Hang dry away from strong heat or sunlight.
  • Lifespan and performance of the diaper cover will be enhanced by adding lanolin. Dissolve 1/8 of a teaspoon in hot water and add to last rinse. Make sure lanolin solution is evenly dispersed throughout the rinse to avoid blotching. This only needs to be done occasionally.

Do I need to lanolize my Aristocrats Diaper Covers before I use them?
No, you do not need to lanolize your Aristocrats Diaper Covers before use. In fact, you should only need to lanolize them very occasionally e.g. 3 - 4 times per year. The best rule of thumb is probably to lanolize if/when you notice a cover seems to be losing its absorbency. This should not be very often but, of course, will vary considerably depending on individual use. (Which is why we cannot give a precise schedule for lanolizing.)

Why does my new Aristocrats Diaper Cover leak?
There are several reasons why this may happen:
1) The diaper being used is not thick enough.
2) The diaper is new and needs several washes in order to become absorbent.
3) The diaper is not entirely covered by the wool pant.
4) The clothing is too tight (this will cause osmotic leaking).
5) The wool pant is not entirely dry.
6) When the wool pant is new, it sometimes needs washing before it will work at optimal capacity.

Do I need to wash my Aristocrats Diaper Covers before use?
Although they do not actually need to be washed before use, their performance is generally enhanced by washing. Indeed, should you experience any problems, these will generally be quickly resolved after the first wash.

My Aristocrats Diaper Cover has become too stretched
Often just washing the cover is all that's needed to tighten it up. However, if it still seems too stretched (most often it's at the waist), the solution is to wash the Aristocrats Diaper Cover and, whilst it's still wet, pull it into the shape you want it. So, if it's too wide in the waist, stretch it lengthways (and vice versa).

My Aristocrats Diaper Cover stinks!
Wash the Aristocrats Diaper Cover and rinse thoroughly. Adding vinegar to the last rinse will normally eliminate bad odours. (Vinegar neutralizes the ammonia in urine, creating the proper pH for wool. This not only prevents unpleasant odours but also softens the wool fibres.) If the problem still persists after washing your covers and rinsing them in vinegar,
try soaking them for several hours in a vinegar/water solution (1/4 cup of vinegar per gallon of water).

For older children (plus 6 months), more frequent washing is sometimes required. However, your Aristocrats Diaper Cover should not need washing daily.

Please note: In order to remove soap residues etc., it's very important to thoroughly rinse your Aristocrats Diaper Cover after washing. (See How should I wash my Aristocrats Diaper Covers?) We do not actually recommend non-rinse wool washing agents such as Eucalan. While these are fine for sweaters, hats etc., the job that a wool diaper cover is required to do demands that it be thoroughly rinsed with each wash. If you do use a non-rinse wool wash, we recommend that you always rinse it thoroughly anyway.

Remember: The best cure is prevention!

My husband put the Aristocrats Diaper Covers in with the diapers and now they've shrunk!
As long as they haven't been put through the drier (the ultimate 'terminator' for wool products), there's still a good chance of  saving them. The best thing is to hand wash the covers and, whilst they're still wet, stretch them wherever they need stretching. (It's probably a good idea to lanolize them at this point too. See How do I lanolize my Aristocrats Diaper Covers? ) Unless the shrinking is very severe, they can generally be pulled back into shape quite successfully.

How do I get rid of stains/discolouration on my Aristocrats Diaper Cover?

Treating stains can be difficult. The sooner you deal with them the better your chances of success. Rubbing ordinary hand soap on the stain - prior to washing and rinsing - and letting it sit for a while works well for some stains. If this doesn't work, try soaking the cover overnight in a vinegar/water solution (1/4 cup of vinegar per gallon of water). How well this works depends on how bad the staining is. Unfortunately, given the job diaper covers are required to perform, a certain amount of staining (and, more particularly, discolouration) is almost inevitable over time.

The wool in my Aristocrats Diaper Covers is becoming hard
Before you wash them, leave your Aristocrats Diaper Covers to soak overnight in a vinegar/water solution (approximately ¼ cup vinegar per gallon water). Then just wash them as per our instructions (see How should I wash my Aristocrats Diaper Covers?) How well this works rather depends how hard the wool has become; but it can often make a difference.
