FOLDING FOR THE LARGE SIZE DIAPER
Choose a flat surface large enough to spread the diaper, as shown below - a
table, a bed, even the floor if you find it comfortable. If the bottom part
hangs over the edge, as it does in the picture, that's fine, just as long as the
outer 'shell' (the stretchy triangular part) is on the flat surface.
(If you prefer, you can spread the flat part out to the right of the
centreline of the shell. It doesn't really make any difference.)

Taking the bottom two corners of the flat diaper, fold it up and
over itself approximately along the fold line (above) and about 4 inches
below the bottom point of the shell (shown by the small red arrow) to the
position shown below. (Note: You could make this fold
bigger or smaller, depending on the size of the child being diapered.)

Now, quickly smooth out any wrinkles by brushing your hands from the
centre to the outside edges of the flat as shown below. (This is to avoid
lumps which could be uncomfortable for the baby.)

Next we're going to fold the flat diaper in towards the centre
of the shell to form a thick pad. As shown below, fold the outside edge of the flat diaper
roughly 4 inches in towards the centre. Smooth out any wrinkles by
brushing your hands quickly in the direction shown by the straight arrows.
(You're going to smooth out the wrinkles with every fold, so
we won't repeat this again.)
Now fold the diaper in towards the centre a second time, this
time making the fold about 5 inches wide (below). (It
helps to note the position of each fold in relation to the shell.)
Make a third fold towards the centre, about the same width as
the second fold, i.e. approximately 5 inches (below).

The fourth and final fold is about half the width of folds two and
three and should bring the pad to the middle of the outer shell as
shown below.

And that, basically, is all there is to it! One horizontal fold, four vertical ones!
Because the large size uses only two horizontal folds, it's
thinner than the small and medium sizes (which use three horizontal folds). So,
when diapering for nighttime with the large size, we suggest inserting an
additional folded flat diaper or a doubler before making the first vertical fold
(below). Just fold the flat diaper around the extra pad and continue folding
towards the centre, as before, until you arrive at the middle of
the stretchy shell. (Depending on the width of the extra pad, you might need to experiment a bit before you figure out a fold that works well for you.)

Addendum: The more adventurous among you might also consider trying
the 'five fold' diaper for a thicker but narrower pad. The only difference being
that, instead of making four vertical folds, you'll make five, the first
being roughly 2 inches wide, the next three each being about 4 inches wide; the
fifth fold will need to be about half the width of the fourth to bring the pad
to the middle.
Note: If you experience problems with runny bowel movements, the wider 'four
fold' pad is recommended.
